RICHARD
SEARS
EXECUTIVE CREATIVE
DIRECTOR
I’m Richard Sears, a filmmaker and creative director based in Los Angeles. I’ve spent more than 20 years making films, live shows and places people can step inside.
I started in film, and I still think in scenes: where you enter, what catches your eye, and when something unexpected happens. My work has taken that instinct into the Atrium at Sphere, the worlds of Marvel and Transformers, and a double-decker bus hiding the safe house from Bird Box.
I’m currently VP, Experiential at EXstudios. Before that, I led the Atrium experiential work at Sphere and held creative leadership roles at Jack Morton, MC² and NEON. I shape the idea, direct the work and lead the people who make it happen.
My films include Bottom of the World and Bongwater. An Evil Town was selected for Critics’ Week at Cannes in 1995. Hotel Transformania, which I led creatively at Jack Morton, received a Silver Clio Entertainment award in 2022.
The medium changes. I’m always looking for the moment that stays with someone.
