The Wizard of Oz at Sphere
One Atrium. Two worlds.
The Atrium becomes part of the film’s world, extending the experience before and after the screening.

Role at the time: Senior Director, Experiential · Sphere Entertainment
My contribution
As Senior Director, Experiential at Sphere, I led the Atrium experiential work from concept through design and production. My remit brought the physical environment, screen content and interactive encounters together around the guest journey.
The design decision
We gave the same Atrium two distinct environments: an immersive sepia world for ingress, then Emerald City for egress. Returning through the space became a new part of the story.
The design constraint
The Atrium serves both arrival and departure. The experience needed to address those two moments within one physical space, while connecting media, scenery, retail and live performance.
What we delivered
Content across multiple screens; character holograms; set pieces from the film; interactive cameras; immersive merchandise areas; and an interactive live Wizard show. The work developed over more than a year of concepting, design and production.
Selected collaborators
Michael Gizienski, Senior Show Designer, contributed set concepts, LED media boards and interactive photo-op production assets. His project credits list Zack Winokur, Richard Sears and Nick Lange for experiential creative direction. Evolution created holographic and hyperscreen visuals for the Atrium.
